On the model of 19th-century screens, Vasilev created a wall unit that, while inspired by the past, embodies decidedly contemporary concepts: the result is Plissé Bookcase, a hybrid object that combines two apparently distant realities. The visual airiness of Plissé conceals a solid structure consisting of modular panels, held together by supporting shelves. The modernity of this bookcase also lies in its flexibility: its free-standing design makes it highly versatile and equally suitable for home and professional environments.

Victor Vasilev was born in 1974 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. At the age of 15 his family immigrated to Israel. He studied architecture at the Politecnico in Milan and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. At the end of his studies, he decided to stay in Milan and in 2004 started his own practice. Collaborations with many companies have resulted in his winning several international recognition. His design ideas are inspired by the continuous search for formal and material purity.
